Careers at Gorp Labs

Work on AI that
operates where it counts.

We are a small team building AI systems in environments where reliability is not optional. If that sounds like the kind of problem you want to spend your career on, keep reading.

Why Gorp Labs

Most AI work is
genuinely inconsequential.
Ours is not.

When you build at Gorp Labs, your model might help a clinician make a better decision at two in the morning. Your anomaly detection system might flag a maintenance issue at a nuclear facility before it becomes a safety event. Your code runs in environments where the alternative to getting it right has a real human cost.

That is not a burden — it is the reason this work is worth doing. We attract people who find the stakes clarifying rather than frightening, and who want their technical rigour to mean something beyond a benchmark score.

We are a small team and we intend to stay that way. Every person here is a principal contributor. There is no organisational debt, no layers of process, and no work that sits in a drawer. If you build it here, it runs in the world.

How we work

A culture of craft and candour.

Small teams, real ownership
Engagements are staffed by two to four people. You will lead technical decisions, present findings to clients, and own your work from problem framing to production. There is no hand-off to a delivery team.
Domain depth is valued
We hire people who want to understand the domains they work in — not just the models. Time spent on regulatory frameworks, operational contexts, and sector knowledge is not overhead. It is the work.
Intellectual honesty
We tell clients when AI is not the answer. We tell each other when a model is not good enough. We do not have a culture of optimism theatre. If something is not working, the team needs to know.
Research and practice together
Everyone at Gorp Labs is expected to stay current with the research literature. We run a weekly paper review, support conference attendance, and allocate 10% of time to exploratory work that may not have an immediate application.
